Future: Brushless 1/8 Buggy *CAD Renderings* - 03.26.2007, 06:16 PM

Hello,

Last night I decided after seeing a few converted buggies on here that I would give it a try. So first thing I did was look into electronics for it.

Lipoly's:(2) TrueRC's 4000mAh 11.1V 3S1P packs

Motor: Neu 1512/2D Brushless Motor.

Controller: Undecided.

My starting base vehicle is an Ofna 9.5. ALOT of these stock parts will be replace with others from other buggies or custom machined. I have already replaced the stock a-arms with those off of the Ofna CR. I have decided that I will CAD the whole vehicle to a very detailed point(that is why I have only gotten this much done in the rendering so far). I hope to get everything to their exact measurements so I know where exactly everything will work, and if needed where I can move around stuff to get it to work. My plans for the buggy is first for run time, and second for speed. I would still like to have a even amount of both. Is 65mph aiming too high? I put some numbers into the speed calculator here on the site and I was around 85MPH with all the gearing correct and everything. I just dont think when it comes down to it I will be near that. Still have alot of Rendering to do still.

*Note* Resizing them took away a little detail in the renderings

My Favorite picture so far:

Very nice design. But in my opinion, 65mph is really, really stretching it... especailly on only 11.1 volts. But good luck with the project... should be killer once it is done.

As for the esc, you can run the new MM esc that will be coming out that will handle motors like the neu a lot better.

When 2 3s1p packs are put together as 6s1p, wouldnt the voltage be 22.2volts? Correct me if I am wrong.

Cool design work.. too bad it can't magicly make the real thing appear...

Yeah 65mph is too high in general... 11.1v aint gonna do it either. Just do the math and you will see that the amps required are massive compared to 4s or 5s. You may be able to gear it really high and get some impressive speed runs but it won't be practical for any other use with that gearing.

Generally imo about antime you gear for 50+ it's not good for anything but speed runs and goofing around. Racing and even most forms of bashing are better served with slower speeds... mid 40s for bashing and mid 30s for racing.

I was just wondering why you guys keep saying 11.1v's? Putting 2 3s1p packs together creates 6s1p 22.2volts I thought. I might be wrong?

Also, I am wondering what controller would be the best for this set up? I am looking currently at the Quark 125B as my choice. Would anyone make a different suggestion?

6S would be the ticket. Yes, putting two 3S packs in series would work fine. You might even consider two 4S packs.

I think 6s would be the perfect setup, not too much, not too little for this setup.

Crazy, the Quarks don't like 6S for some reason so that not really an option. Personally, I would go with the MGM 9032. It will even leave room for 8S, like Aragon suggested.

Hey, that is a NICE rendering! What program did you use? :027:

65mph huh, those tires look like they are ballooning already! :005:

I like the battery mounts too.

Oh... yeah we assumed you meant total of 3s... not 3+3 :)

6s would be much better for hitting 60+ hee hee
