ROAR nationals BL/LIPO

Have you guys heard that there is going to be a promotional brushless/lipo class at the nationals runnning 1/10 stadium trucks. Any motor or lipo is legal and anyone can enter. Single 20 minute main. This could be the start of a mainstream acceptance of electric racing with the new technolgy. It could pave the way for other classes and maybe eventual 1/8th and MT which would give manufacturers a reason to make them.

It's held in New Mexico which stinks for me since I'm on the E coast:005: . I already have the setup, that's just about the only electric racing we do in this area. I wish it were closer. I'm hoping they will get plenty of support to show that there is interest in changing the way people look at electrics. Even if your not a racer, the industry and trends tend to follow the racing world. This is good news for those of us who would like to see new and different offerings in the electric world.

20mins? thats like 8000mAh batteries are a must

you could probably do a 20min main on a 6000 maxamps battery but yes 8000s are good, but Pros want to have lots of battery but not so much weight, so if they can get away with using the 6000s they will.

I agree, but with the weights i prefer the 8000mah better, because they weight is about 50 grams less that a 6 cell (maxamps 7.4v 800mah) and with the weight i added to balance the truck i got (T4) its almost perfect. I believe it could be done with a 3700 to 4000, but thats pushing it

I'd be willing to bet that a Trakpower 4900 would make it 20 minutes when paired with a BL combo that won't go up in smoke while running hard for 20 minutes in a race.

I run a Mamba Max with a 9XL in an 1/8 scale truggy and I get 20 minutes out of a Kokam 4800 pack. A 6Ah pack in a 1/10 scale truck setup for track running should do 20 minutes easily.

I run 8000 mah but you could get away with 6000, I've seen it done. The 8000 just gives you a closer weight to what is normal for the truck and more margin for runtime. It also has the advantage fo faster charge time and just more "fuel in the tank" so to speak. Some of the guys I race with have one 8000. They can get to the track, practice for 30 minutes, charge and run 3 heats and 20 minute main with the one pack charging between each race. The 8 amp charge helps a lot for that.
