BK warrior 9918 compared to MM

How would an old 9918 standup when beeing compared to a MM controller ?

It would be used in an E-Maxx (or E-Revo) and on 4s.
I found a used 7XL and 9918 but I am a bit unsure about the 9918, from searching this forum it seems rather old (most posts about it are from 2005/2006).
Is the 9918 a "safe" bet (if such exist...) or is it know to have problems ?
Does it have a LVC function built in ?
Will it cog with a 8 or 9XL setup compared to the MM ?
