I'm back! - 09.22.2007, 03:24 PM

Well, not that too many will remember me, but I sure feel left out of the loop after being gone for at least 6mos if not more......I really don't remember.

Main reason I came back is that now I got a new-ish (started 5mos ago) job and am actually making decent paychecks, and want to get my old Ofna 9.5/Truggy thing going again. I've breifly talked with MetalMan on URC about what motor, he's suggesting a Neu 1515/2.5D.....I think that's what it was......and a Quark 125. I'll mainly be running 4s A123, but the occaisional 5s may happen, it'll all be on standard size Maxx tires like Crime Fighters and maybe some Badlands to tear up bike jumps out here.

I also am planning on using one of Mike's amazing looking CNC'd motor plates, more specifically the Hyper one. But....is it for the Hyper 7 or 8 or both? The old Ultra LX Comp or whatever diff I used in it's last evolution is leaking oil all over in the box it's sitting in, so I'll dump it and pick up a Hyper whatever diff instead, that 8 spider one looks nice, but should I keep the steel spur and go hardened pinion or try to put a plastic one on? Going off the few pics I've seen of the diff, it looks a lot like the 9.5 style, where the spur basically caps off the diff and holds all the crap inside in.....unlike the LX one that has the spur screwed to it. Whatever I do, I'll drill new mount holes in my 9.5/Mutilator chassis if I have to, but I'd prefer an option that wouldn't require that if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for any responses, even if it is "Oh yeah, I remember you!"

Welcome back!

I was wondering how the Cali Farm Bash Bros were doing.

I am at Mikes place at the moment, working on some projects. Spent the whole september in NY!

Good to see you around Dabid, make sure to check back on LSARC too!

What up Daf-nerd? I'm totally lost on here now, sooooo many new products people are talking about that I have NO idea what they are! I kinda had it down pat when it was just the Feigao motors, BK controllers, the occaisional MGM or Quark, and I almost understood the high dollar Lehner numbers......but now there's all the newer "alphabet soup" named stuff like Neu's and other random abbreviations, I glazed over pretty quick.

Man, it's hard getting back into this!

Oh, back up! Browsing the forum is a part of the job, and yesterday was like a couple hours holiday... thanks again for the nice BBQ!

Dabid, it's still the same really. Still waiting for the MMM. Only the Neu motors gained popularity, and their numbers are pretty easy to understand (look at the KV ratings).

Nah, too hard, I'll just pretend it's a fad like these new things called "internets".....they'll blow over after a few months, I tell ya.

BTW, it's very likely I'll get some kind of Neu, I kinda have a hookup through a friend who's sort of sponsored by a plane website.......I haven't found out if he can get that 1515/2.5D yet though.

Speaking of the MMM, any kind of eta for it? I remember buzz about it starting over a year ago, but Castle is notorious for announcing stuff early and drawing out the actual release for quite a while. However, when the Mamba Max did hit, it was very very well made, guys on here prove it by abusing the heck out of them!

EDIT: Heh, doesn't mean much, but I got my signature, avatar, and user title up to date......makes me feel special.

Just to throw it out there, the Hyper 7/8 diffs are the same. The 8-spider diff is different, and might not fit.

So, when are we gonna meet up and bash?

SH Z-Car, Custom Crawler, 8s Savage, 12s XTM XLB 1/7 buggy, 4wd 4-link rear/IFS Pro4 truck, Custom Hyper 10 Short Course, Belt-Drive Mammoth ST 1/8 truggy, 4s 17.5 MM Pro HPI Blitz

So the 8 spider one is a different size or shape or something? I'd like to get as few parts as possible, ideally find a center diff assembly (mounts and all) on epay.
