I've bent one of Mike's mounts. They're made from 6061 T6 which isn't that hard to bend. I just took a plier and straightened. I have a metal spur also. Make sure your mesh isn't too tight. As suggested, spin the spur all the way around, several times and pay close attention to any point that feels a bit stiffer than others (ignoring the magnetic resistance from the motor).
