I've bent one of Mike's mounts. They're made from 6061 T6 which isn't that hard to bend. I just took a plier and straightened. I have a metal spur also. Make sure your mesh isn't too tight. As suggested, spin the spur all the way around, several times and pay close attention to any point that feels a bit stiffer than others (ignoring the magnetic resistance from the motor).
i dont know what your truck is using for a spur but i run the kyosho 44 or 46 tooth nylon spurs http://www.rc-monster.com/gears.php?pg=3 and if for some reason something happens the spur would give before the pinion would. so in the long run it would be a better choice based on price. my truck came with a 53 tooth spur and i run the 46 tooth and gear it to the speed i want to get.
do the kyosho spurs fit mugen diffs? is there any performance differences from the steel to nylon spurs?

Id give the robinson racing one a shot, I have never been disappointing by there gears. As you can see my spur in my pic is also in perfect condition yet it tore up the 2 speed bell..
When filed I found out the bell was a softer steel then the spur.
do you have a link for the robinson racing pinions?

No idea if the Kyosho spurs fit. But regarding plastic spurs...I've had no problems with my plastic spurs. I prefer them as they run much quieter. Plastic spurs are thicker than steel ones to add strength. Make sure your chassis cutout has enough space for a plastic spur, otherwise you may have to do some grinding (I did).
even if they dont fit the cup just right all you need to do is sand down the cup a little on the edge. and yes they make very little noice. overall just a much nicer gear.

Last time i checked the kyosho diff cup is a larger diameter then the mugen by kind of alot.
