truggy conversion idea - 07.05.2005, 07:19 AM

Hi everybody this is just a idea so dont laugh. Has anybody thought of converting a hot bodies lsp with a emaxx tranny. I now bpp does it with a diff but i thought a tranny would be eaiser. What are your thoughts ?. I had a buddy convert a kyosho buggy with a emaxx tranny it was pretty cool.

The E-Maxx tranny is kind of heavy, isn't it? Also, it puts the motor(s) up higher, so that raises the COG. The diff is good because it can give you better braking into corners.

Thats true the tranny is heavier. But it would be eaiser then the diff, because the tranny has a place to mount the motor and speedo. It was just a idea to stir up conversation

I agree with MetalMan.
Diff or E-tranny, both have their advantages. For bashing the tranny would do fine, but for racing I would go for the diff. If you can get the gearing right, then you've already won, crafting a motormount is not too hard.

As Dafni said, making a motor mount is not difficult. That is, as long as you have the tools. I have made at least 10 different motor mounts (for different vehicles), so the diff would be much easier to work with. Or, I could do it my style - a center shaft with an inline Revo slipper clutch with a Monster GT mod1 spur mounted onto it (this is what I did to my 1/8 BL/Lipo buggy).

Thanks, looks good. Is this the stock spur?
Would you mind to share the gearing numbers? Or is there a thread about this rig somewhere?
Would like to know more about this buggy.

i plan on making a custom chassis for my e-maxx outa lexan until i can get a g2. its gonna lower the batteries like the g2 or others like it, but i think i am gonna use a differencial out of a buggy. would i lose more power through the center diff? what would be some disadvantages?

Diffs are usually good, as they can improved braking into corners.

Dafni - the spur gear is a Kimbrough Monster GT 52t mod1 gear. I can also get 46 and 49t gears. Pinion is a 13t mod1. Diff ratio is 13/43. Motor is a Feigao 8L.
If you want, I can start a new thread with all the specs and pictures.

New idea here guys. What do you think about converting trhe new JAMMIN crt truggy to BL ?. I think it would be awsome.

about your emaxx on the LSP idea;

It would be impossible, because the batteries need all the space there is, you know my lsp>brushless conversion? i needed to replace the diff allready, and it has got a smaller footprint than the emaxx transmission.
