I ran a 9L in a rusty on 3s for a while. This is what I did because the RCM clamp wouldn't fit in the tranny housing. I got 2 pieces of 3mm threaded rod and screwed them in 2 of the tranny housing screw holes, then used a nut on them to thread up against the transmission housing to hold that in place. Then put the motor in and made a flat bar for a back plate and held that in place with a nut on each threaded rod to clamp the motor. Not quite as sexy as the RCM clamp, but it did the job nicely. The motor never fell apart and only about $.89 worth of materials.

Anyway.. a picture is worth a 1000 words. Heres what I did.
