From what I understand, being Delta wound or Wye Wound doesn't make any difference as far as timing goes.

However, the number of poles a motor has does make a difference.

2 Pole motors usually can only tolerate Low-Med timing.

Where as, a 12 pole outrunner likes to be run on High Timing.

I've always ran the highest timing a motor would tolerate and let temperatures be your guide.

If your timing is too high, it will run Hot and needs less timing.

I'm running a Medusa 36-60-1500kv in an E Revo with 18/40 gearing on 6S. It's timing is set to High and does just fine. However, I do have a fan/heat sink on the motor.

The Medusa is a 4 Pole motor. I hope this helps.
