Ohh come on, nobody wins big in Vegas....Gambling as a whole is just a money pit. The only people I know that routinely win lots of money gambling spend a ton more than what they won in order to get it. I just lost $25 tonight on video Keno, it's just a waste (and boring!) You get much more fun for your money out of an R/C.

I agree with you about R/C being much more fun, but we have won every time we have gone to Vegas in the last 5 years. We win just enough to pay for the trip and then we quit. AND we only play the slot machines. We spend the rest fo the time going to the shows and just enjoying the atmosphere of Vegas. We went there during the summer holidays and spend time in the spa getting massages, and we saw the Terry Vator show, the George Wallace show, the Donnie & Marrie show and we won just over $3K on the slots. So we broke even once again. If you get greedy you will lose for sure. The best part is that the US Gov paid for our travel to and from for our annual R&R leave from Korea. When we got back there were three boxes of R/C stuff waiting for me.

Sounds like a great trip! I have never gambled in Vegas, seen some shows and walked the strip but the longest I've ever been there was 3 days. It would be fun to see how long you can make $5 last at one of the slot machines....they will bring you free booze all day if you're playing their machines. $5/day for all you can drink isn't a bad deal!

I'm not into gambling. I"m still bitching about the first $5 I spent/lost my first time in Vegas last year at the nickel machines within 20 minutes. Whata freaking waste of time. Not even one hot as hell waitress girls came over to me, guess because I wasn't a high roller.

No, im going down their to see my girlfriend, have sex, see some bouncing fake titties and check out the sights.

My 75cc husky chainsaw starts every time, no matter how old the fuel is... Maybe the upgrade motors are better than the hpi 23cc? I cannot imagine them being any worse.

And lol on the emotional meltdown... I had to laugh at that one. I wonder if freezy will have a smc rec pack? Or has he learned his lesson on crap batts?

Nothing against gas 2wd, but the flux is much more fun for me. And quieter. Just someting screwy about a "rc weedeater", even my shockwave 55 with the zenoah 26 gets on my nerves... And since the new house backs up to the water I will be getting on the neighbors nerves too! Need to finish the other 5 bl boats...
Ran fine after you sold it to me. Only ran once though, fired right up, played with the needles a little and it ran as well as one of the CY23s is going to run. Bought the baja for parts.

You have much better luck than me in Vegas. I think I have won once, broke even a couple times, and lost a majority. I'm the opposite of you though. I hate slots and play only table games.

See this is the problem. The tables are run by a person who knows how to manipulate the cards no matter who sits down, and the roulette wheel is the biggest risk of all in any casino. The slots are rigged to win every so many cycles no matter who sits in front of them. It is all about numbers and the luck of the draw as far as which machine you sit in front of. I am willing to bet that they even have them rigged to win more often at certain times of the day when the most people are stroling through the casino floor. How many big winners do you really see leaving the tables? Very rare unless they are trying to sucker some big rollers onto the tables.

My wife and I set a limit for each of us every time we go there, and once we reach that limit the plan is to do other things like the shows or spas. My wife always hits first on one of the slots and things escelate from there. Once she hits we put the original biddings back into the old pocket book and leave them there for the remainder of the day/night. We have gone to Vegas every year since we got married in 2004, and have always left with more $$$$ than we arrived with, including paying for our hotel bill and whatever entertainment that we enjoy. We never try to win big and leave with a bank full of money. That is how people end up losing their homes and ending up deep in debt. If you measure the numbers of people who are actually playing compared to who is winning the casino is always watching and always winning. They have to let someone win just to sucker others in to spending their hard earned money.

That's very smart play. I play slots sometimes, but they are so damn boring if you aren't sitting in a big group of people that you know and can talk with. I play the tables to socialize and talk with people, not to try and win big.

I always set daily/trip limits for myself, as well as pay for everything on the trip with that cash so I know exactly how much my trip costs. Plus I tend to go to Vegas more for the atmosphere and shows. If I want to gamble I tend to go to Wendover, NV quite often. It's a shithole, but a quick drive from Salt Lake, and better odds/payouts at the tables. It makes for a fun evening if you like to gamble.

Good luck on your future Vegas trips. Hope your streak continues.

And now, back to bajas. I just finished installing a GH alloy tranny case on my 5T as well as a Craftwerks titanium layshaft.

Well I have had the baja for a little over a month now, and am fully addicted to it. The savage hasn't been touched and is up for sale. I've already put about 2K into the baja, not including what I bought it for.

A few pics:

Those are while it was pretty much stock. I have since upgraded to a futaba 3pm radio, with a killer rc kill switch so I can keep myself and others around me safe.

Along with:

BLEM hostile MX's all around with 250 kold kutter ice racing studs
proline desperado wheels
DDM enclosed clutch carrier
rear v2 dominator pipe

That's just a small portion of it, I forget everything I have put on it haha.

In the mail is an ONB full mod 30.5cc, along with all the drivetrain goodies from DDM
I have to call jet pro today to see if they are done a 5b pipe for me, they designed a pipe specifically for that motor but so far only for a 5t.

I know the feeling, my other RCs are feeling pretty neglected right now too. I haven't really driven any of them lately since the weather isn't great right now.

Looks good, you are going to be happy with the ONB full mod. I have a ONB/TS reed 27.2 in my buggy, and it's a beast that revs forever. I'm seriously thinking of sending my crankcase back and having them do a TS 30.5 for me.

Are the reed cases really that much better? I am expecting my 30.5 to rev to just under 20K. Is TS the only person that makes a reed case or...? Still confused on that subject.

Depending on what kind of porting you have ONB or any other porter do, the reed cases generally do not rev any higher. The TS cases generally just have better low-mid range power and response, not that its needed with the 30.5s. I would be pretty surprised if the full mod 30.5s hit 20k, i personally think that 19k is more reasonable estimate. Either way, should be a screaming engine with tons of power.

Trevor Simpson is the only person that I know of that makes a reed crankcase for baja application. ONB (and I'm sure other people do as well) sells engines that use a regular crankcase with the reed block on them, look at the "cylinder reed ported engines" section on their site. As far as being better, that depends on the person. There is a pretty big price premium for a case reed engine. Because of the reed valve the powerband is wider, hence the better low-mid range power. The top end is approximately equivalent between a piston port and a reed port of equal bore and stroke.

I've heard of people getting significantly higher RPMs out of reed case engines, like 21,000 out of a 25.4.
