Best methods to lock a center diff??

I use silly putty, works fine on 1/10, and 1/8 cars, can be undone if needed, and $2 gets you enough for several diffs. Just pack it as full as you can get and tighten it down. My theory is it is a touch more forgiving on gears and cv shafts, as it will have a tad bid of give over being mechanically locked.
