I use caustic soda. Works like a charm.. takes about 3 seconds to get the job done. With 7075 you need to pollish, because it will turn out black.

I used Easy-Off over cleaner on my Revo chassis and it worked fine. Just spray it on and rinse it off after about 3-4 minutes. Then spray/wait/rinse again to get anything that was missed. Depending on the alloy, the it might be all blotchy after - just use some steel wool or something and it will clean right up.

I would recommend doing this outside so any overspray doesn't hurt anything and for the fumes.
