i woulldnt, the way it is, is perfect imo

The advantage of moving it upfront would be better handling, and I could drop the batteries back towards the rear more and move the motor more in the center of the chassis length wise. I personally like the design as it is right now, but I was just wondering if others would say against it.

Also, the steering assembly will be coming out of a Xray XB8, I like it because it seems to be low profile, and would go more with the build.

Edit* for those that maybe wondering where the controller and receiver are going to be place, these were to be located ontop of the Lipolys, and that is why there are such large battery tie down plates. These plates will most likely be made out of aluminum, with sort of a "cooling fin" design cut into them to help cool the batteries as well as the controller.

Personally, I would put it over the front. That way it won't be to tail heavy. I know this might not sound right, but I would rather a car that flies slightly nose down instead of nose up. I find its easier to adjust the nose up than down.

How about the steering servo? It doesnt look like there is enough room for the servo?

I'll get the servo in the CAD file LATE tonight. Should be enough room to mess around with layouts of the servo.

Well, this is the only update I got as of right now, I got the tires rendered up. I think I have to go down the sidewall a little more. Note*- There are 1300 nubs on each tire, that doesnt make my computer too happy. So all the performance settings are turned down, that is why come of the circles in the picture are like octagons and stuff, final rendering will have everything turned up to the highest quality.

lies. maybe turned up to a higher setting, but you're looking at months, maybe years to render with everything maxed out :005:

The front tires look bigger that the rear. I would've thought that with the distance perspective, it would be the other way around. Or am I just seeing things? Other than that, looks good. Can't wait to see the final rendering and final real product. :)

Thanks Nick :) . The final render will have the settings turned up as much as possible to get a better render then what is shown above.

The wheels are ALL the same exact size because they are all 1 part in Solidworks.

Must be my perspective-trained brain trying to see the smaller tire out front since that is what it would look like in the real world...

Well I gave into chassis length as of right now. I decided to extended it to 16" even. This is due to allowing more servo/other things room.

I also decided after looking threw some old pictures that I used to LOVE the look of this vehicle.


So I decided that some times I will throw some narrowed rims with some Hole Shot MTR's on it.

Also, I plan on making a second rendering with a chassis set up like this one.

And decide which one I like the best.

I love the idea of CF inserts into the chassis.

Yeah, that guy did an amazing job on that chassis. I dont know if I will do CF inserts because I want to use the chassis as a heatsinks its self to dissepate some of the heat from the batteries,ecs, and motor. When refering to the picture above as a reference, I mean like putting the lipoly packs as close as possible together and making a really small width chassis.

Well the maxx is/was mine
It was one of my first works so quite ok but not perfekt.

I hadn't got the enough time for the hobby in the past but i started desgining a new chassis. Centerdiff+Slipper (like Slipperential), of course lipos and i wasn't sure about it but i thought about using an outrunner bl... i would have also used an mechanical brake.
I would build the chassis like " lego-principle" to make working on the truck more comftable. on the basis-chassis all over units (batterymount, centerdiff+Motor...) build up..

The CF inserts aren't really neccessary more for show... But i would "play" with the different materials, a truck complete out of alu isn't the best way...
