Looks like Lipo really is the future according to Novak -
06.19.2007, 02:06 PM
I found this this morning, http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/s...d.php?t=239086, has cut off for 2s and 4s lipo, depending on how you wire it
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

hmmm... funny, i've been thinking of using my 6.5 esc with my lehner to see how that combo works together. :005: my hv system is just laying around as a spare system - i may have to solder the 2 together and see how it works.
nice that the new esc comes with the lipo cutoff.

other way around. a sensor based motor can be used on a sensorless controller, since you are not using the sensor wires. A sensor based controller doesn't use the EMF to determine where the n/s poles of the rotor is located, it uses a HALL sensor.

Just for clarification, a Novak SS motor could be used with a Mamba Max ESC?
I am curious about this because I have a Novak motor that I would like to use, but the ESC does not work. And I would like to try the motor with my MM.
Does anyone have any experience with this, or is it just a common knowledge thing?

the only esc's i can recall being able to do that with each in their element is the traxxas velineon and the GM brushless esc, but not sure on the GM one

You can run it, but it's possible that you'll have problems with cogging on it. For some reason, most Novaks are not real happy on MM ESC's from what I've read. However, there is a very long thread on rctech.net where a guy has been using a Novak 4.5R motor on a MM ESC for a while now with mixed results. It certainly won't hurt to try it. If you try and it doesn't work well, before you give up, be sure you exhaust all the options in programming as far as start power/timing/punch control.

Are the Novak motors built the same way as the Neu's? Are the symptoms similar?

Sven, you could return your old Novak esc and exchange it for an XBR (rmf) for $49.00.
